GSP vs. Condit to be announced next week
A long-awaited welterweight title unification bout between UFC champion Georges St. Pierre and interim champion Carlos Condit is actually going to happen after all.
The promotion will announce next week that St. Pierre and Condit will meet in the main event of UFC 154 this November.
UFC exec Tom Wright announced the plans on Thursday, stating that the news will be announced at a UFC 154 press conference on September 27.
St. Pierre last fought in April of 2011 at UFC 129, earning a unanimous decision win over Jake Shields. Since then, he has been recovering from injury and finally appears to be back in fighting form.
While St. Pierre has been recovering, Condit has been dominant in his place. Following three straight knockout finishes, Condit defeated Nick Diaz via decision to earn the interim title at UFC 143. He has not fought since.
