Sonnen hosts 2013 MMA Awards
UFC light heavyweight title contender and undisputed MMA king of the microphone Chael Sonnen will get to once again showcase his talent as a captivating entertainer when he hosts The World MMA Awards alongside CBS sports anchor Molly Qerim on Jan. 11, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This will be Sonnen's second time hosting the ceremony which recognizes the achievments of the year's most dominant MMA stars, held by Fighter's Only, the world's leading mixed martial arts magazine.
"Chael did a fantastic job as host last year and we are elated to be able to work with him again," says Rob Hewitt, President and CEO of Fighters Only. "The commanding presence of Chael combined with the beauty and skill of Molly make the perfect partnership as hosts and we feel sure that they will make this years show even more entertaining."
The World MMA Awards feature 21 fan-voted categories, including the prestigious Charles "Mask" Lewis Fighter of the Year award. Ronda Rousey, Daniel Cormier, Nate Diaz, Benson Henderson and Jon Jones are this year's nominees. Other categories include "Fight of the Year," "Knockout of the Year," "Submission of the Year," and a "Lifetime Achievement" award which will be presented to a certain legendary fighter that night. Sonnen is currently filming what promises to be the most electrifying season yet of "The Ultimate Fighter." He coaches opposite light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, whom Sonnen will challenge for the title April 27.
