Lavar Johnson Out With Groin Injury, Schaub Removed From UFC On FOX 5

Brendan Schaub is not happy with Lavar Johnson.

Johnson sustained a pulled groin and has withdrawn from his bout with Schaub on next week's UFC on Fox 5 card. UFC president Dana White posted news of the injury on twitter Thursday night. Left without an opponent a week before the fight, Schaub has been removed from the event.

"UFC on FOX 5" takes place Dec. 8 at KeyArena in Seattle. A lightweight title fight between champion Benson Henderson and number one contender Nate Diaz serves as the main event. The matchup between Johnson and Schaub was set to be the featured fight on the FX preliminary broadcast.

Schaub voiced his displeasure with the cancellation through his twitter account.

Johnson is 2-1 since making the jump from Strikeforce to the UFC. After posting consecutive "Knock Out of the Night" victories over Joey Beltran in his octagon debut at "UFC on Fox 2" and Pat Barry at "UFC on FOX 3," a first round submission loss to Stefan Struve at UFC 146 three weeks after the Barry fight halted his fast rise through the heavyweight ranks.

After falling short to Roy Nelson in "The Ultimate Fighter" season ten tournament finale, Schaub then went on to win four straight fights in the UFC. However, he is currently riding a two-fight losing skid against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Ben Rothwell. Earlier this year, the former professional football player turned UFC heavyweight voiced his interest in facing Johnson in the cage. It looks like that interest will have to take a seat for the time being.
