Healy, Masvidal meet in January

A lightweight match up between Pat Healy and Jorge Masvidal has been added to Strikeforce: Champions.

According to MMAJunkie.com, Masvidal has stepped in in place of current Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez, who pulled out with injury for the second straight time against Healy, the first being the September 22 card that was cancelled entirely due to the injury.

Masvidal is coming off a win over Justin Wilcox back on the July 14 card, while the Team Quest member Healy is riding a five-fight winning streak, his last being against Mizuto Hirota which took place at the same event.

Strikeforce: Champions, which is the final event the promotion will hold, was also set to feature middleweight champion Luke Rockhold against Lorenz Larkin, but Rockhold was also forced to withdraw due to injury.

The event takes place on January 12, 2013 and is headlined by Nate Marquardt vs. Tarec Saffiedine in a welterweight title fight.
