Condit vs MacDonald II for UFC 158

Following his domination of B.J Penn at UFC on FOX 5, welterweight contender Rory MacDonald immediately asked for a rematch with Carlos Condit to avenge the controversial TKO loss he suffered in June of 2010. The UFC has granted MacDonald his wish as he will face Condit once again at UFC 158.

Upon hearing about the challenge, "The Natural Born Killer" said he does not back down from anyone and gladly accepted. It was then only a matter of time before the UFC made it official, and it looks like matchmakers will agree that Rory has indeed earned a second shot at the former number one contender for the welterweight championship.

Fans will remember the shocking change of pace that occurred during their first meeting at UFC 115. Rory was controlling Condit on the ground and laying down quite a beating for the first two rounds. However, Rory's lack of experience caught up to him in the third round when he gassed and allowed Condit to get on top of him before raining down a series of brutal elbows and punches, forcing the referee to stop the fight with barely ten seconds left in the round.

Many believe that the ref could have let the match go on for ten more seconds, in which Rory would have won a decision two rounds to one. MacDonald, however, only blames himself for the loss, as he said during the UFC on FOX 5 post-fight press conference.

"I was just laying there getting beaten on, my face looked like I was the guy from 'The Goonies' after. I was embarrassed about my performance and how I held myself."

The two fighters have dramatically improved both their striking and grappling since this fight, and they will most definitely look for a definitive win to finally settle the score. There surely won't be any room for excuses in this one.
