White mum on Alvarez talks

It looks as though there might be a few bumps in the road between the UFC and the contract negotiations with former Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

It has long been known that Dana White wants Alvarez on the UFC roster, as he is known as one of the top fighters not under the Zuffa banner. In fact, almost immediately following his knockout win over Patricky Freire, White sent a tweet to Alvarez stating, "Lets talk".

Well according to White himself, those talks aren't going as pleasantly as planned. At the pre-UFC 155 press conference the UFC president explained to MMAJunkie the situation as best he was allowed:

"I don't know if I can talk about it," White said. "If I could talk about it, I would. I think it's going to get ugly."

Earlier this month it was reported that Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said the company would waive their 90-day exclusive negotiating period in hopes of making a decision on matching the UFC's contract offer. As of now it appears that Bellator has the UFC's offer for Alvarez and are crunching the numbers to determine if they will match.

For the time being, Alvarez fans will have to wait for his next move as it seems a sticky situation is brewing between Bellator and the UFC.
