Sakara out of UFC 158 rematch against Cote
A rematch between Alessio Sakara and Patrick Cote will just have to wait.
The two were tapped to fight at UFC 158 next March in Montreal, but Sakara withdrew from the fight earlier this week, citing kidney troubles as the cause.
He will be sidelined from the issues into next year.
UFC 158 takes place at the Bell Centre on March 16.
According to MMAjunkie.com, a search is underway for a replacement for Cote, a Canadian, who will remain on the card.
Cote and Sakara met at last month's UFC 154. Sakara landed a barrage of punches to the back of Cote's head in the opening round, and the referee stepped in.
Appearing to have won, Sakara celebrated, but that celebration was quickly halted. When the decision was read by Bruce Buffer, Cote was given the victory as Sakara had been disqualified due to illegal strikes.
UFC president Dana White was furious about the situation and could not believe the number of strikes landed to the back of the head before the ref finally stepped in.
