"The Ultimate Fighter 17" to Debut January 22 on FX

An advertisement in the new issue of "UFC 360," formerly known as "UFC Magazine," declares that the first episode of "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs Team Sonnen" will air on Tuesday, January 22nd at 9 p.m. ET on FX.

The move from Fridays to Tuesdays is most likely due to the dismal ratings of the latest season of the long-running reality series, which currently airs Friday nights on FX at 10 p.m. ET.

The 9 p.m. Tuesday night slot could perhaps be in accordance to the popular series that currently airs at 10 p.m. on FX the same night, "Sons of Anarchy." The show draws millions of viewers each week, most likely of the same demographic that would tune in to "The Ultimate Fighter."

"TUF 17," which began filming in October, features middleweight contestants. The cast, however, has yet to be revealed.

The ongoing feud between coaches light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen has created a great amount of hype for what promises to be the most exciting, drama-filled season of the reality show to date.  The two will meet in a light heavyweight title fight in April of 2013.
