Plans are to hold UFC 20th anniversary show in Big Apple

If New York can legalize MMA in 2013, Dana White has big plans for the UFC in the house that Ali and Frazier built: Madison Square Garden. In fact, planning has already begun for the monumental show.

White revealed plans for a UFC 20th anniversary show at some point in November 2013 following the UFC 155 post press conference.

"We have a date," White said after completion of the press conference. "And we have a match."

In order for an event to be held in that time frame the state legislature will need to pass a bill legalizing MMA early 2013. Despite heavy campaigning by the UFC, fighters, fans and politicians, the sport has failed to get the bill passed as it just stalls out somewhere along the process.

According to White much of the problems have to do with the political game of it all, however despite all the obstacles he remains optimistic over a Big Apple event.

"I wouldn't say it if I didn't think it was (realistic)," White said. "That's our goal is to get in there in November for the 20th anniversary at Madison Square Garden."

"We've got a card planned," White said with a smile. "We've got some stuff planned. We've just got to get past these scumbag gangster union guys and see what happens."

While he would not elaborate on his plans, it's hard to imagine the UFC not pulling out all the stops in order to make an epic debut in New York.
