UFC returns to Japan in March with FUEL TV event

The return of the UFC to Japan this March is set with UFC on FUEL TV 8.

The event takes place on March 3 in Saitama, Japan.

Saitama hosted the last UFC event to be held in the country, UFC 144, which featured Ben Henderson's victory over then lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

The Saitama Super Arena hosted that event, and the 20,000-seat venue will host the March event.

"After an amazing event last February, we're excited to bring the UFC back to Japan for the second year in a row," UFC president Dana White said in a press release. "Japan has such a big fan base that we knew we couldn't stay away for too long. I can't wait to get back to Japan in March."

Several contests are rumored to be in the works for the event, including a heavyweight showdown between Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve.

Also, Diego Sanchez believes he will fight Takanori Gomi on the card.

Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. on Dec. 13 to members of the UFC Japan Fan Club, which launches on that same date. Non-members can purchase tickets at a later date, likely in January.
