Silva vs. Stann for UFC on FUEL TV 8

Get ready for a stand-up war for ages as  Wanderlei Silva will take on Brian Stann in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 8, March 3rd in Saitama, Japan.

Silva actually declined the offer to fight Stann in early 2011, saying that being pitted against a decorated war hero would initially label him as a "villain" in the eyes of the fans. Both Stann and Wanderlei will move up a weight class and fight at light heavyweight for this bout.

Fortunately, Wanderlei has finally comes to his senses and realized that this humble veteran is a powerful striker who loves to stand and bang just as much as the he does. Stann couldn't be more excited to battle "The Axe Murderer," whom he calls one of his favorite fighters in the history of the sport.

Both fighters are coming off unanimous decision losses and could really use a knockout or TKO to propel them into the upper ranks of their division. Wanderlei is once again desperately fighting to stay relevant after coming up short against Rich Franklin, and Stann needs to remind the fans that despite his failure to hurt Michael Bisping in his last fight, he still has some of the most dangerous hands at 185.

It seems foolish to think this one will go the distance, considering both competitors clearly prefer the heat of the exchange to lead them to victory.
