UFC buys LA Boxing, increasing number of UFC gyms substantially
UFC president Dana White was a keynote speaker at the New Media Expo on Monday morning, and the most successful leading man in mixed martial arts was interviewed by Bruce Upbin, the Managing Editor at Forbes Magazine, before fielding questions from those in attendance.
But White's participation in the expo did not just include questions and answers as he also made several announcements.
During his segment, White revealed that the UFC Gym franchise continues to grow with the purchase of LA Boxing. All LA Boxing establishments will be changed to UFC gyms in the coming months.
"We just bought LA Boxing, so those are going to be converted into UFC gyms"
He did not go into specifics regarding the purchase.
LA Boxing currently has over 80 gyms open across the country, including 19 in California alone. The franchise began in 1992 with its first gym.
Meanwhile, the UFC has five gyms, with two more coming soon.
But the announcements didn't stop there as White also revealed that the UFC would be launching headphones by Monster, the same company that developed Beats by Dre.
No date was revealed concerning when the headphones will be released.
