Barnatt eliminates Smith in prelims

The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen was back on Tuesday night for the second episode of the season.

Fresh of the first installment, where all 14 fighters fought to gain entrance into the Ultimate Fighter house, Jon Jones picked the first fight, baffling Dana White with his curious matchmaking, and making Chael Sonnen a happy coach.

The light heavyweight champion selected Gilbert Smith (Team Jones) to meet Luke Barnatt (Team Sonnen) in the first fight of the in-house tournament. Throughout the episode, Team Jones clearly had their doubts, while Sonnen's group seemed quite content with the situation.

Barnatt, a tall, long fighter, had little trouble taking care of the much shorter Smith, earning a second round technical knockout with a vicious knee after Smith tried to shoot in for a takedown.

Following the victory, Sonnen selected his other top fighter Uriah Hall to take on Adam Cella in the second preliminary fight. The fight will air next Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on FX.
