Hendricks Gets Title Shot With UFC 158 Win

UFC President Dana White has announced that if Johny Hendricks beats Jake Ellenberger on march 16th at UFC 158, "Big Rig" will finally be awarded a shot at the welterweight championship belt.

Hendricks has been under the impression that he should have gotten a title shot after his thunderous KO of Martin Kampmann (his third consecutive victory over a top-tier fighter) at UFC 154 last November. However, Johny was forced to take a back seat to Georges St. Pierre''s "unfinished business" with Nick Diaz and now must overcome yet another highly ranked competitor to cement his number one contender status.

White broke the news at a UFC 158 press conference when he was asked about who would eventually fight the winner of the main event match-up between St. Pierre and Diaz.

"I'd have to say if Johny Hendricks looks good and wins his fight, it will probably be Hendricks"

Any question as to whether Hendricks deserves to fight for the title will be erased if he can claim four victories in a row over some of the best in the world at 170 lbs. The only other fighter to accomplish this feat in recent memory is GSP himself.
