UFC on FX 8: Five Fast Facts for Belfort vs. Rockhold

1. The middleweight contest headlines UFC on FX 8 on May 18 at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sol, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

2. Nicknamed "The Phenom," Vitor Belfort has fought in his home country of Brazil twice during his current stint with the UFC. He earned a submission win over Anthony Johnson in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 142 and, most recently, earned a technical knockout win over Michael Bisping in Sao Paulo at UFC on FX 7. Throughout his professional career, he has never lost a fight on his home soil.

3. The bout will mark Luke Rockhold's UFC debut after spending the past two years as the Strikeforce middleweight champion. He is 10-1 as a professional, but has not lost since November of 2007. Also, he has never competed outside the United States of America.

4. Testosterone Replacement Therapy will likely be another hot topic leading up to this fight. Belfort has a history with the topic and was diagnosed with low testosterone prior to his fight against Bisping. It was revealed following the fight that he did undergo testosterone replacement therapy before the head kick knockout win.

5.With the Belfort vs. Rockhold booking, two contenders are off the list of potential opponents for champion Anderson Silva. Belfort could have made a real case for himself after defeating Bisping, but instead of middleweight rematch, Belfort called out Jon Jones. Meanwhile, Rockhold has stated that he would take a pay cut to fight Silva.
