Edgar seeking 5-round main event with Swanson

After losing in his featherweight debut to champion Jose Aldo, it appears that former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is ready to hop back up on the horse. And he even has an opponent already in mind.

Ariel Helwani stated on Tuesday's edition of UFC Tonight that Edgar was looking for a 5-round main event with the red hot Cub Swanson at either a UFC on FX or Fuel TV Card. However if that bout were not to work out, he would be open to a match up with Denis Siver at UFC 160, which is scheduled for May 25.

Edgar has found himself on a 3 fight skid, despite keeping all the contests close and competitive. It should also be noted that those fights have come against the #4 and #5  best pound for pound fighters in Aldo and Benson Henderson, according to the UFC's official rankings.

Swanson, however, is on an impressive 4-fight win streak, with 3 of them being finishes. His last bout came against the always game Dustin Poirier at UFC on Fuel TV 7, in which he won by a decision victory.

Despite Edgar's recent string of losses, he remains one of the top fighters on the planet, and with his name value, a win over him could get Swanson that much closer to a title shot, while an Edgar victory would surely put him back into championship contention as well.
