UFC on FUEL TV 9 will take place April 6 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The show is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Alexander Gustafsson and Gegard Mousasi.
McGregor had been one of Europe's biggest MMA talents not signed to the UFC before inking a five-fight deal with the promotion. Before the signing, he was a two-division champion in the UK based Cage Warriors Fighting Championship promotion. He won the Cage Warriors' featherweight title in June of last year and then captured the promotion's lightweight title on New Year's Eve. The fighter from Ireland is currently riding an eight-fight win streak, with a record of 12-2 overall. All of his wins have come via knockout or TKO.
Since losing in the quarterfinals of The Ultimate Fighter season 14 to Bryan Caraway, Brimage has won three straight fights against Stephen Bass, Maximo Blanco and Jimy Hettes, respectively. A fourth straight win over the hyped McGregor on European soil would certainly boost him up the suddenly crowded featherweight ranks.
