Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold
Bout expected to headline, possibly in April
It's not the Jon Jones rematch he was hoping for, but it looks as though Vitor Belfort will have his hands full, when he takes on former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold which is now set to happen sometime in the second quarter of 2013, in Brazil.
Dana White has already stated his intention to match the two together at some point, and yesterday while in London, the UFC president announced the two will indeed fight, possibly in April in Belfort's homeland. Tatame broke the news.
"The Phenom" is coming off a spectacular headkick KO over Michael Bisping at UFC on FX 7 in Brazil, however the bout has recently been marred by controversy due to Belfort legally using testosterone replacement therapy prior to the bout.
Rockhold will make his debut after a long layoff due to injuries, having not fought since defending his Strikeforce championship against Tim Kennedy back in July. However, after a 9 fight win streak in the now defunct promotion, Rockhold remains one of the top ranked middleweights in the world, despite having never fought in the UFC.
