UFC Recruits McMann, Davis

The female roster of the UFC continues to grow as two highly impressive athletes have been added to the women's bantamweight division as of today.

Sara McMann and Alexis Davis both signed contracts to compete inside the octagon, bringing the total fighters in the UFC women's bantamweight division up to six. The announcement was made earlier today during a UFC 157 conference call.

McMann is an Olympic silver-medalist in wrestling who is currently 6-0 as a mixed martial artist. Her last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Shayna Baszler in the all-female MMA promotion Invicta FC. She was in talks to face Liz Carmouche at a Strikeforce event last November but was forced to withdraw due to an injured knee.

Alexis Davis, 13-5, is a former flyweight who went 2-1 in Strikeforce, her winning streak cut short by Sarah Kaufman in March of 2012. Davis regained momentum, however, by winning her last two fights via Rear Naked Choke in Invicta FC, latest of which also over Shayna Baszler.

While it is obviously likely that the two will clash in the near future, their first matches are yet to be confirmed.
