Interim champion out of fight with Eddie Wineland
The UFC bantamweight division just can't catch a break. While the UFC has not yet confirmed the news, Tatame is reporting that 135lb interim champion Renan Barao has sustained a right foot injury and will be unable to meet Eddie Wineland in UFC 161's main event.
Of course this will come as another blow to a division that has seen it's actual champion, Dominick Cruz, on the sideline since his last bout in October of 2011 due to multiple injuries. In his absence, Barao has gone on to win the division's interim strap against Urijah Faber and then successfully defend it against Michael McDonald.
No news has been mentioned on whether a new main event will be scheduled or if the card will continue as is.
