UFC Interim Champion Renan Barao
It looks like Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao will not wait to unify the title against current champ Dominick Cruz who is still recovering from an ACL injury with no timetable for his return.
"We were talking about Barao defending his title now. Whether he wants to wait or not, we're going to go back to him soon probably here and have him defend it," stated Dana White in a post UFC 154 interview.
When asked of potential opponents Michael McDonald's name was brought up to which White replied "I think so, yeah."
McDonald, who is coming off his outstanding knockout victory of former champion Miguel Torres, would be going into the fight undefeated thus far in his UFC career. Renan Barao is riding a 30 fight win streak, with his last victory coming against Urijah Faber for the interim title back in June.
