Weidman injured, out of UFC 155
UFC middleweight contender Chris Weidman is out of his UFC 155 bout against Tim Boetsch with a shoulder injury.
Weidman's teammate Constantinos Philippou has stepped in as a late replacement.
Newsday.com reported the news today, and UFC officials have since announced the change.
The injury is just the latest unfortunate event in what has been a tragic month for Weidman. Early this month, his Long Island home took quite a lot of damage during Hurricane Sandy.
Meanwhile, Philippou recently experienced an unlucky situation. He was scheduled to face Nick Ring at UFC 154, but the fight was called off when Ring was unable to compete due to illness.
He enters his UFC 155 match up against Boetsch on a four-fight winning streak. Boetsch has won four straight as well.
UFC 155 takes place on December 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card features a heavyweight title fight between champion Junior dos Santos and top contender Cain Velasquez.
