Dan Hardy on Sanchez Fight: Hilarious
Fresh off a hard-fought win over Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah, Dan Hardy is eager to get back into the octagon as soon as next spring. His next ideal opponent is a fighter Hardy does not appear to find the least bit threatening, due to this veteran's eccentric, free-spirited antics.
In a recent interview with ESPN UK, the former top welterweight contender expresses his eagerness to fight his opponent of choice, Diego Sanchez. "The Dream" is most likely going to return to the lightweight division to fight Takanori Gomi, but in case that fight doesn't pan out, Dan Hardy would be more than happy to go head to head with Sanchez. That is, if he can stop himself from laughing once Sanchez makes his way down the aisle.
"Diego Sanchez would be great. The guy's hilarious, I can't take him seriously. I think a fight with him would be a lot of fun, why not? I'll be doubled-up from laughter if he's doing [the 'YES 'chant]. Especially if he comes out to the Mariachi music - because that's just fantastic. It's like a circus, like a festival."
Hardy isn't just being cruel, as many would agree that Sanchez's "passionate" entrances to the cage as of late have been a bit over the top. All joking aside, Diego Sanchez's intensity is not to be counted out, regardless of what he may look like during his Tony Robbins-inspired entrances. Just ask Martin Kampmann if Diego Sanchez is worth laughing at.
With wins over Sadollah and Duane Ludwig at UFC 146, Dan Hardy seems to be finally gaining momentum after struggling through a four-fight losing streak.
