UFC Champ Dominick Cruz Has Another Surgery

UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz had his second ACL surgery this year, thus pushing his return back even further than expected.

According to MMAJunkie ,one of Cruz's trainers stated that the champ had his ACL replaced last week after his body had rejected one from a cadaver.

While no timetable has been set in stone, he went on to estimate that the surgery could set him back anywhere from six to nine months.

Cruz had his first ACL surgery back in June leading him to pull out of his title defense against his opposing coach on The Ultimate Fighter 15, Urijah Faber. Cruz's last fight was a victory over Demetrious Johnson at UFC Live: Cruz vs Johnson all the way back in October of 2011.

In his absence Renan Barao stepped forth and went on to defeat Faber at UFC 149 to capture the interim bantamweight title.

Recently UFC Dana White has stated that he would not wait for Cruz to return, and instead would talk to Renan Barao about defending his interim championship, possibly against Michael McDonald.
