Assuncao breaks arm at UFC on FOX 5

Rich Franklin is no longer the only UFC fighter to win a fight with a broken arm.

Bantamweight Raphael Assuncao broke his arm in the first round of his preliminary card fight against Mike Easton at UFC on FOX 5. Assuncao would go on to win the match by unanimous decision.

The Brazilian took to his official Facebook page to reveal the photographic evidence of his injury, which he first mistook for a muscle spasm in the midst of the action.

"Broke my arm in the first round! Thought it was a muscle spasm at first but was broke...no excuse lets keep the improvements + recovery on."

Assuncao didn't appear to be severely injured during the fight at all, as he seemed to have no difficulty using both arms to throw strikes, jockey for position in the clinch, and initiate take downs throughout the whole fifteen minutes of the bout.

Not even a broken bone could derail the solid game plan and added momentum of Assuncao that night. This is his third win in a row, and a big win it was. Easton had previously been defeated only once in his career.
