Palhares suffered broken bones and ligament damage
Before succumbing to the blows of Hector Lombard at UFC on FX 6, it appears that Rousimar Palhares broke his foot.
According to MMAJunkie, "Toquinho" suffered broken bones and ligament damage in his right foot after throwing a low leg kick.
"During the fight, my kick was working well," stated Palhares, who went to the hospital immediately after the fight. "But soon in the first round, one of my kicks hit Lombard's shin below his knee. I heard a snap, and I knew something bad happened.
"From that moment on, I [started] feeling my foot more and more numb and without strength to walk around the octagon. It was a very complicated situation. I went through something similar in the fight against Jeremy Horn when I broke my hand during the fight."
The loss is the second in a row for Palhares, as he lost to Alan Belcher by TKO back in may. He is now 7-4 in the UFC. His coach and former UFC champion Murilo Bustamante went on to state that while there is timetable on his return, Rousimar would bounce back.
