Steven Seagal Says He Would Fight Randy Couture “Any Time, Any Place”

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani had the privilege of interviewing Steven Seagal, and as always, the former action star had some interesting things to say regarding some of the UFC's most beloved competitors. After deeming GSP's performance against Jake Shields as "atrocious," Seagal went on to address hall of famer Randy Couture's quip that he would stay retired unless "Seagal wants to sign up."

“I have to wonder what his intentions may have been in saying that,” said Seagal. “I always thought that Randy was my friend and a gentleman. I’m kind of confused why he would say that, but I’m here, anybody can find me any time and any place. If Randy really wants to fight me, he can fight me any time he wants.”

Now at first, it seems that Seagal is saying that he would literally step into the Octagon with Randy Couture, believing that he actually has a chance of winning a MMA fight against one of the greatest practitioners of the sport to walk the earth.

Oh no. Seagal doesn't want to fight Couture in the Octagon. This one is going to be personal. Prepare for a heavy dose of cheesy martial arts film dialogue as Seagal further discusses his interpretation of Couture's "threat."

“It would be for free, and it would be some place where there are no witnesses. I’m hoping it wouldn’t get to that, and I don’t know why it would come about, but if that’s what he wants, he can get it any time he wants. I don’t play by the rules. I’m sure one person will walk out. I’m a man of honor. I’m a gentleman, but I am a warrior, and if he needs to find me, he knows where to find me.”

There you have it, it's all up to Couture as to whether or not he wants to participate in a fight with Steven Seagal where there will be no witnesses or rules. Will Randy follow through with his challenge, now that Seagal is up to the task as long as there may be swords involved? It just goes to show that you've got to watch what you say about such a "warrior." That and Seagal doesn't understand sarcasm.
