Dana White: "She can get to this weight"

Now that Woman's MMA has found a new home in the UFC, the promotion seems to be willing to do whatever it takes to put on the biggest fight possible in the division: Ronda Rousey vs "Cyborg" Santos.

Despite her camp and manager Tito Ortiz's claim that she could not safely make the cut from 145 to 135, Dana White has fired back saying that they will pay for the services of nutrition guru and weight cutting specialist Mike Dolce to help Santos make the weight.

White talked about the subject with Tatame:

"She can get to this weight," said White. "We have an expert who can help you lose weight in a healthy way. We have Mike Dolce, who has wrestlers lose weight and still feel good and it's all about your diet. He is 100 percent ready to work with her and will not cost anything to Cris."

"Cyborg needs to get on the boat," said White. "If she wants to fight in the UFC, she'll have to fight this category of 135 pounds. The stupidest thing about it is that she has Tito Ortiz as his manager."

Mike Dolce, whose "Dolce Diet" is used by such fighters as Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen amongst many others, spoke with BloodyElbow about "Cyborg":

It is absolutely possible for her to make 135. I believe 135 will be her best weight class. I think she's a legitimate 135 pounder. I think as good as she was at 145, she'll be even more dynamic at 135. I believe it wouldn't be that difficult at all.

I was actually flown out to California to meet with Cris recently (stated that the meeting took place within the last couple months), and we had a great conversation. It was just she and I, and after learning more about Cris, her personality, current lifestyle, diet, training program, and just physically, as she looked that day, I believe, in my professional opinion, dare I say, expert opinion, that she will be amazing at 135 pounds.

If Ronda Rousey can get by Liz Carmouche at UFC 157, talks of a fight with "Cyborg" will surely intensify, and outside a fight with Olympic wrestler Sara McMann, it's the only fight that would make sense for the newly established UFC women's division.
