White: It f*&^%@ was not Vitor Belfort
Between his explosive performance at UFC on FX 7 and his own vague answers on using TRT, Vitor Belfort's name was bound to pop up into the PED conversation.
However, Dana White wants you to know, after a week of rumors, "The Phenom" did not not pop for a failed drug test. But someone else did:
“It f------ was not Vitor Belfort,” said White definitively. “Yet, right now, I bet if you talk to 100 people, 100 people will tell you that Vitor Belfort failed his drug test in Brazil. That’s bulls---.
“That’s crazy that some rumor from a f------ clown with a fake name on Twitter can do that. It’s crazy.”
“There was an irregular test. Something was wrong,” said White. “Whenever something wrong happens, or weird, (the urine samples) get retested and, usually, it’s not a good thing. We will release the thing when it comes out, and we will say what happened with who failed.”
PED allegations are nothing new to an aging fighter suddenly on the up and up, as we have seen the same rumors with the likes of Randy Couture, Dan Henderson and others. So when an "old lion" such as Belfort suddenly looks like he is 19-years old again and KO's a top contender, it should come as no surprise.
Also, Belfort failed a drug test in the past for heightened testosterone levels.
With the drastic increase of fighters using TRT legally and illegally, the MMA world almost has the right to be weary of who is clean and not clean. When it comes to PED accusations, in all sports not just MMA, its has always been a case of guilty until proven innocent. The lingering speculation of "who is and isn't using" is why fighters such Roy Nelson have turned to VADA testing to prove that not only are they clean, but their opponents are as well.
