Assuerio Silva Shot 5 Times
Former King of Pancrase and UFC heavyweight contender Assuerio Silva was shot five times last night by an old training partner named Robson Freitas.
The shooting took place just as Silva was leaving his gym in Curitiba, Brazil. He was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
Freitas, who had reportedly threatened Silva's life many times before, has yet to be arrested.
Assuerio Silva was a Chute Box standout who competed in both Pride and the UFC and has fought the likes of Brandon Vera, Tim Sylvia, and Alessio Sakara. His last UFC fight was a unanimous decision loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 70.
